5th QS-APPLE Attracts Largest Number of Delegates and Exhibitors To Date…
Confirms Stature as Asia’s Biggest International Higher Education Conference
Dear QS-APPLE Delegate,
It was our pleasure hosting you at the 5th QS-APPLE Conference and Exhibition between 24 and 26 November 2009. We hope you have as much pleasure attending it as we have in organising it for you.
The 5th QS-APPLE is our biggest and best-ever event to date, and we would like to update you with the following information:
Record Number of Delegates and Exhibitors
- Over 700 delegates from 140 institutions in 45 countries attended - university presidents, vice-chancellors, deans, rectors, professors, as well as administrators concerned with internationalisation and graduates’ employment.
- 50 exhibitors representing leading higher education institutions and organisations from 15 countries.
- 120 speakers from 25 countries presented on 40 subject areas over eight parallel tracks.
Positive Feedback Received
More than half of delegates rated their Overall Conference and Parallel Sessions experience as above average to excellent. The most cited benefits of attending 5th QS-APPLE given are:
- Networking with Asian universities and some of the best educators in the Asia-Pacific
- Sharing of ideas and concepts
- Acquiring new experiences and knowledge from global institutions
Most exhibitors were seeking global partnerships. Many reported making 20 to 50 contacts by the end of the show.
A majority of speakers (87%) found the experience to be fulfilling and enjoyable for mainly these reasons:

Ministerial Address and Media Coverage
The 5th QS-APPLE was graced by the Malaysian Minister of Higher Education, Y.B. Dato’ Seri Mohamed Khaled bin Nordin, who addressed Opening Plenary session.
Various media were present to cover the event, including The Star, Bernama (Malaysian National News Agency), Iran News Agency, Radio 24 and Islamic Republic News Agency.

Workshops Draw the Crowds
A Saudi Arabia delegation comprising 70 top academics, university administrators and Ministry of Higher Education officials, attended the first-ever QS Saudi Universities Globalisation Workshop two days before 5th QS-APPLE. The 3rd QS University Rankings and Evaluation workshop held on Monday saw 200 international delegates attending.
